At Positive Polar, we support ocean wildlife by accelerating the recovery of the great whales, nature’s eco-engineers that power the natural cycle known as the biological carbon pump.
Our actions are expected to benefit communities that depend on wild seafood, and by helping to restore the environment, we will help ensure the Earth remains a place where humanity and all life can thrive
How we do it:
Positive Polar will work with scientists and restoration supporters to mimic the positive impact that whales once had on the ocean while cruising, and to study how the ocean works and what we can do to protect it.
By doing this, we will help restore the balance disrupted by the extensive hunting of whales in the past and by current atmospheric pollution. We will study how the biological carbon pump—driven by whales and other natural forces—can be augmented to help the ocean recover its abundance and biodiversity more quickly.
This will naturally result in increased fish stocks for a growing human population and potentially greater carbon capture, benefiting the environment.
